Org. Setting and Reporting

This position is located in Movement Control Section, United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), Beirut. The incumbent will report to the Movement Control officer or his/her designate.

Responsibilities

Receive and register cargo movement requests for air/ground transportation. 
Receive supplies from different sections, arranges for transportation and follows-up from delivery to destination.
Complete cargo manifests and other documentation.
Arrange customs clearance and related documentation. 
Assist Inbound Coordination unit 
Lift and carry cargo as required
Ensure cargo (including dangerous cargo) is loaded in accordance with International Regulations.
Inform appropriate consignees on delivery of items.
Board and deplane passengers, while remaining aware of safety procedures standards with respect to aircraft refueling, use of cell phones and approaching aircraft.
Check-in passengers to include manifest confirmation/amendments, baggage identification and weighing, distribution of boarding passes.
Assist with airfield and air terminal security by ensuring that all passenger baggage or property are scanned and accounted for at the time of check-in, the air passengers remain in designated areas while at the air terminal and all incidents or potential safety or security matters are reported in a timely manner.
Fulfill the duties of a passenger baggage handler by retrieving or placing passenger baggage on aircraft, assist in the transfer of baggage to the terminal area, and follow-up on misplaced or damage of baggage.
Prepare and process monthly attendance records, MOPs/Waivers, leave request, F. 10 claims, CMRs, e-job supply request and other documentation as required.
Assist passenger and cargo unit with airport/ helicopter operations as per laid down procedures.
Participate in MovCon Duty Officer Roster. Assist with administrative duties as required.
Prepare, compile and maintain the monthly detachment passenger and cargo statistics related to air/ground movements.
Track and trace missing cargo and baggage.
Drive vehicles at the airfield in keeping with appropriate licenses.
Prepare, process and follow-up on administrative arrangements with respect to staff official travel. Maintain Unit files as required (both in hard and soft copies), administrative instruction and other related documentation.
Provide general office support services such as drafting routine correspondence and the distribution to various officials.
Perform other duties as and when required by the supervisor.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent is required. 
Additional technical/vocational qualifications in logistics, transportation or management is desirable.

Work Experience

A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in movement control related services or general experience in the field of transport, travel related or logistics fields or administration is required. 
Valid national driving license is required,
Experience working at a UN field mission or UN Agencies is desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.

Assessment

Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise, which may be followed by competency-based interview.
