The expected contract duration is two months.OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST

In the framework of the implementation of the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (hereinafter called “the 2003 Convention”), and in close consultation with the Programme Management Unit of the Living Heritage Entity, the Individual Specialist shall edit various types of documents, using appropriate terminology and taking into account the style and nuances of the United Nations, UNESCO and of the 2003 Convention, as well as the appropriateness of the content for readers (including States Parties to the 2003 Convention, Member States, national authorities, non-governmental organizations, partners and the general public).

The Individual Specialist shall more specifically edit:

  • the working documents of the third and fourth meeting of the Bureau of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage: 15.COM 3.BUR and 15.COM 4.BUR (approximately 10,000 words);
  • documents for an electronic consultation to take place in preparation of an expert meeting on the nature and purposes of the listing mechanisms under the 2003 Convention (approximately 7,500 words);
  • the working and information documents as well as scenarios for the fifteenth session of the Intergovernmental Committee for  the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage that will take place from 14 to 19 December 2020 (approximately 170,000 words).

Education

  • Advanced University degree (Master or equivalent) in the field of English literature, culture, social or human sciences or a related field.

Work Experience

  • Four to five years of relevant working experience in English editing at international level.

Languages

  • Excellent knowledge of English, both oral and written and good knowledge of French.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Work Experience 

  • Editing experience related to the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage or a related field.
