The position is located in the Strategic Planning and Performance Management’ team of the ERP/Umoja project in the Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance in New York.

Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Chief/Senior Officer of Umoja’s SPPM team, the Information Systems Officer will be responsible for delivering a variety of support work for the implementation of solutions for Umoja’s Extension 2, such as in connection with Strategic Planning, Budget Formulation, Programme Management, Performance Management and integration with other Umoja solutions, specifically in respect of the related development of the underlying SAP technologies, such as BPC and others used to develop.

Within limits of delegated authority, the Information Systems Officer may be responsible for the following duties:

1. SYSTEM ANALYSIS:
(a) Plans and directs major systems projects of significant importance to the institution, or major components of these complex systems that typically impact critical operations and large or multiple user groups.
(b) Provides expert advice on complex system analysis and design for the Business Planning & Consolidation (BPC) processes of the Umoja solution, including the related configuration in SAP [such as for General Ledger, Grants Management, Funds Management, etc].
(c) Provides process improvement subject matter expertise in the area of SAP Business Planning & Consolidation (BPC) processes, along with its related integration with SAP Funds Management, Grants Management and Human Capital Management.
(d) Develops detailed specifications, business design documentation and end-user documentation for the Financial management-related functionality, processes and reporting in the SAP Umoja solution, in particular with respect to Strategic Management, Budget Formulation and Performance Management.
(e) Participates in the development of risk/benefit analyses associated both with enhancements and with required customizations, which shall be rationalised and generally minimal, and for which full written justifications are to be provided.
(f) Provides inputs into the design of Umoja Extension 2 processes as they related to Finance, in particular the Grants Management workstream and process areas, such as with respect to Donor Relationships and Implementing Partners.

2. DEVELOPMENT:
(a) Creates and maintains environments, models and dimensions in BPC and their related data manager packages, package links, logic scripts, transformation and conversion files, delta loads and business process flows.
(b) Creates and maintains complex input forms and reports in BPC using the EPM Excel Add-In.
(c) Creates and maintains the integration of BPC with other SAP and Non-SAP systems, including the automation of master data updates and budget actuals.
(d) Ensures optimal performance of saving data to and retrieval from BW to Excel.
(e) Partakes in the modeling and configuration of security for BPC.
(f) Provides expert advice during the creation and maintenance of the business logic and business process workflows in Strategic Management.

3. INTEGRATION and TESTING:
(a) Supports the end to-end unit and integration testing of Umoja SAP Business Planning & Consolidation processes using applicable methods, standards and specific data models, designing and utilizing test bases, assisting users in acceptance testing and validating results thereof.
(b) Supports integration testing of the existing and new Finance-related projects coming up with UE2, such as Donor Relationships and Implementing Partners, specifically as they concern Strategic Management.
(c) Analyses and resolves defects identified during all test phases.

4. PRODUCTION SUPPORT:
(a) Liaises with users to understand requests for new enhancements while leading Tier 3 support to Finance processes for large or multiple user groups.
(b) Develops and/or oversees the completion of user documentation, training materials and presentations.

Education

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in computer science, information systems or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience and professional qualification may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. SAP Certifications in SAP BPC, BW, PS are desirable.

Work Experience

A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in end-to-end planning,design, development, configuration, deployment and maintenance of IT-supported solutions for Finance and Budget in an ERP environment, along with Database and MasterData management is required.
Full life-cycle experience, including designing and configuration of SAP Business Planning & Consolidation (BPC) process solutions and their integration with SAP and non-SAP systems is required.
Experience in systemic analysis, integration, workflow design and configuration in SAP Finance is required.
Experience with writing specifications, logic script, form and report building, testing and subsequent production support is required.
Experience with IPSAS is desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.

Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
