Org. Setting and Reporting

This position is located in the Building Maintenance sub-unit of the Facility/Events Maintenance Unit under the Engineering & Facility Maintenance Section (EFMS) of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), Naqoura. The incumbent will report to the Supervisor of the Building Maintenance Unit or his/her designate.

Responsibilities

1. Perform tasks related to construction work and prefabricated container installations in UNIFIL, including but not limited to laying out, framing, and finishing of new construction and repair structural metal and woodwork and equipment in establishment.
2. Perform a variety of routine and preventive maintenance painting duties, such as structural steel painting, sand blasting, and preparation for enamel, epoxy, and latex painting. Prepare and paint a variety of surfaces including, metal, interior and exterior walls, woodwork, etc.
3. Perform masonry waterproofing, exterior masonry staining; maintain acoustical tile and lay sheet vinyl flooring.
4. Carry out scheduled periodic and emergency maintenance services on installations; perform surveys and ensure the provision of required materials.
5. Liaise with relevant unit(s) supervisors for expert advice on maintenance/construction works, and other technicians, as necessary.
6. Perform other functions as assigned by the Unit Supervisor.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent is required.

Work Experience

A minimum of three (03) years of practical experience, with an organization or a company in general construction/engineering services or facilities maintenance/management is required.
Experience with the United Nations or other international organization is desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required.

Assessment

Evaluation of qualified candidates may include a technical test which may be followed by competency-based interview.
