Org. Setting and Reporting

This position is located in Electrical Unit / Engineering Services Section, United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), Naqoura. The incumbent will report to the Chief Electro-Mechanical unit (Electrical / HVAC unit supervisor) or his/her designate.

Responsibilities

– Assist in installation of all electrical lighting and power systems including wiring in concrete building and prefabs, main distribution and control panels for generators, water and sewage distribution systems.
– Assist in preparation of work orders and materials lists for all jobs assigned to the workshop and coordinate all the work with the other teams.
– Execute daily operation and maintenance works of electrical networks, distribution boards, panel boards, water pumps, boilers and various types of electrical appliances and machines.
– Assist in preparation, fabrication and modification of panels’ boards for various operational electrically driven equipment.
– Provide assistance for other units for electrical related works.
– Provide client feedback and attend to emergency call-outs and breakdown.
– Execute regular and emergency repair and maintenance works as scheduled.
– Coordinate with clients on proposed work schedules for execution.
– This also includes:
a. Security machinery: road blocker, barriers, alarm system-sliding, sliding gate-keypad and remote control system.
b. Helipad equipment: rotation beacon, HAPI control light, windsock light, taxi light, etc.…
– Liaise with other engineering units, sections and military counterparts on all electrical related projects / works.
– Coordinate and assist other units / sections and all military personnel / battalions for electrical related equipment operation, repair and maintenance.
– Duties may involve covering the 24/7 Electrician duty roster.
– Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent is required. Supplemental courses / Technical certificate in engineering or related area is required.

Work Experience

A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in Electrical field or related area is required.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of Arabic language is desirable.

Assessment

Evaluation of qualified candidates may include a technical test, which may be followed by competency-based interview.
