Org. Setting and Reporting

This position is located in Dispatch unit in the Transport Section, United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), Naqoura. The incumbent will report to the Officer in Charge of Dispatch or his/her designate.

Responsibilities

-Operates Trucks, Buses and Material, handling Equipment Transporting Cargo, passengers and various goods which may include hazardous materials such as diesel fuel and lubricants;
-Recovers vehicles at the team sites and throughout the mission area, and transport to a location for repair;
-Performs VIP and standby driver duties;
-Assists the Workshop in the preparation of trucks for field trips such as changing wheels, cleaning air filters and general check over;
-Perform other tasks as assigned;

Education

– High School diploma or equivalent is required.

Work Experience

-Possession of official national commercial driving / operator license is required. 
-A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in Heavy Vehicle Operator or related area (preferably acquired after the possession the license) is required; 
-Experience in United Nations Ground Transport operations is desirable;
-A minimum of 3 years of experience after obtaining the driver / operator license is desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of Arabic is desirable.

Assessment

Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise, which may be followed by competency-based interview.
